Information from the 1911 census
In 1911 Henry John Preston, a 16-year-old dyer, was living at 5 Berkeley Street, Lambeth (now gone, it was in the area of Lambeth High Street), with his half-brother, Frederick Dibb, 23, a wine merchant’s employee, widowed mother Ellen Preston, 53, a cleaner in an infirmary and siblings, Sarah Preston, 17, who worked in upholstering, and Thomas Preston, 12. Ellen had had 11 children, of whom six survived. The family occupied four rooms.
